The Wiley Elementary Foundation (WEF) was established to support the long-term sustainability of Wiley’s award-winning International Studies magnet program. It does this by raising funds for teacher and staff salaries beyond what the Wake County Public School System provides. This funding helps recruit, retain and expand the capacity of teachers and staff essential to Wiley’s unique, inclusive culture and provides benefits to every Wiley student.
The Foundation is separate from the amazing Wiley PTA, but the work of the two organizations is complementary. The PTA’s governance rules do not allow the PTA to raise funds for teaching salaries. The Foundation was created to meet that need! Together, the two groups address key needs at our school and support school excellence.
Thanks to donor support in the 2022-23 school year, WEF presented Wiley Elementary School with $22,467 for teacher and staff salaries in 2023-24. The impact is an increase in the part-time employment of the school’s Magnet Coordinator and the increase of one language teacher’s job from four days a week to five. The language teacher’s fifth day per week is allowing the school to offer greater diversity in Friday elective topics at all grade levels and lower the student:teacher ratio. Thank you to all our generous supporters!
During 2023-24, WEF aims to raise at least $25,000 to continue this support.

Created in 2018-19, the Wiley Elementary Foundation extends deep gratitude to its founding and early Board members whose vision and support made the organization possible: Eva Garland, Daniel Gobel, Tonya Horton, Batch Noah, Josh Parrott, Emil Runge, and Principal Leslie Taylor.
