The Wiley Elementary Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2018-19 to support the long-term sustainability of Wiley’s award-winning International Studies magnet program. Specifically, the Foundation raises funds to supplement teacher and staff salaries beyond what the county and state provide. Its goals are set in alignment with the school principal’s medium and long-term priorities. This type of funding helps recruit and retain teachers and staff essential to Wiley’s unique, inclusive culture and provides benefits to every Wiley student.
This year the Foundation will continue to raise money to partially fund the school Magnet Coordinator’s position, which it has supported since 2019. The Foundation will also focus on creating a multi-year funding base to increase one world language teacher from a four day a week position to five days a week. This increase would allow the school to offer additional cultural elective classes on Fridays when there is no world language instruction.
